A mother is someone who dreams great dreams for you, but then she lets you chase the dreams you have for yourself and loves you just the same. I love watching a mom with her child. There is just something almost magical about it. They smile and talk and most of the time they forget I am there with the camera at all - which is exactly what I hope will happen.
We were supposed to be outside for this session, but 30 seconds after they stepped out of the car it started to rain. And not just a little drizzle either. So we packed up and headed for a nice, warm indoor spot. Just perfect for a little girl in a summery sundress. I love moments that just happen, that freeze a child in his tracks, that resembles life every day in the houses of the families I have the honour of photographing. This family was great. Mom brought dad along to help wrangle the kids and he was an excellent bubble blower :) The kids were happy and silly and full of energy, just the way kids should be. It was a joy to be able to give mom some pictures of just her and the kids.
After having to post-pone the Mommy and Me sessions due to snow (at the end of April) we had a beautiful day for them. In a spot sheltered from the wind it was warm and sunny. Perfect for the munchkin and her gorgeous Mommy! She was such a happy little girl. So curious about everything. I love this age.. .OK who am I kidding? I love all ages :) I love meeting new families and their precious children. Is she not adorable? Yeah, I thought so too!
As Moms, it is easy to come up with a reason not to step in front of the camera. We aren't happy with how we look, we think it doesn't matter to the kids, so many reasons.
Can I let you in on a little secret? Captures these moments with your kids before they grow up. Childhood disappears too quickly and when they are grown your kids are going to want pictures of you and them. They see you every day, the little wrinkle here or weight just you just haven't lost since giving birth - your kids see you and love you regardless of that! So step out in front of the lens and Every once in a while, The greatest thing Never give up on a dream, Faith in God includes This family was great. The brothers were full of energy and spunk, keeping me on my toes but the images I got made up for it. Grey, dreary fall day in Northern Ontario, so what better place to be then a fairground with red outbuildings? It was the perfect backdrop. When we speak of magic There are two gifts we should give our children a small way to give back, as the new year begins...
The Olivia Act named after one of the children killed in Newtown, was started by a photographer who wishes to be anonymous. Olivia’s family had family pictures taken a short time before she was killed. Those pictures are precious and now priceless to them. Upon hearing this, this photographer was moved to give away a 30 minute family photo shoot and has challenged other photographers to do the same. We go about our daily lives and sometimes we don’t take the time or have the resources to have family photos taken. I will be taking nominations for a family who you think would appreciate this gift. The session will take place sometime after the New Year and will be completely FREE to the family being nominated. Please inbox or e-mail their name, contact information and a brief summary of why you chose them to [email protected] Please put "THE OLIVIA ACT NOMINATION" in the subject line. Please do not post their information here. I will take nominations until December 31, 2012. The winner will be chosen and contacted early in January 2013. Please share, Thank you. ♥ Fellow Photographers, please consider taking part in The Olivia Act! |
