It's easy to believe in magic when you're young. Anything you couldn't explain was magic then. It didn't matter if it was science or a fairy tale. Electricity and elves were both infinitely mysterious and equally possible — elves probably more so. ~Charles de Lint
As I photographer, I love the unscripted of storytelling sessions. They are real moments in you life, frozen so that in years to come, when your kids have kids of their own, they can look back and not just remember what they did, but my hope is that the images I take for you will be filled with the emotion of the day as well. Your kids are covered in dirt from head to toe? Your little one refuses to smile without crossing his eyes? roll with it because it is who they are. It is my job to create a work of art from the moments that your family treasures. I do that best in relaxed, in home settings. These images were taken at 8:30 in the morning. I wasn't even going to bother bringing the camera down to the dock . ..the kids weren't going to go in they said. I am glad I did. Because the following images are some of my favourite from our time on Lake Simcoe. So when you hire a photographer, trust them. Let them work their magic and capture your family in the style of photography that is dear to their hearts - the images you get will be better for it!!
We love summer here at Moment in Time Photography. It is the time of year where adventures are had, long days are spent exploring and running wild and free. Summer is the time of year where children can truly be themselves, there are no constraints on their time and each day is filled with waiting adventure.
"We must take adventures in order to know where we truly belong."
There is nothing better then spending a long weekend camping, even if it is grey, cool and foggy much of the weekend. Adventure is all around us, we only need to be willing to step out for it to find us. When with my kids, I gravitate to the details, the little things that I am going to forget in 10 years, but want to remember. The way they group together to intently study whatever creature they have found, the sand stuck to their toes, the wind blown hair. All of it matters, all of it draws me. "Families are the compass that guide us. They are the inspiration to reach great heights, and our comfort when we occasionally falter." -Brad Henry This June, my dad turned 65. We drove approximately 1500 kms to surprise him for a weekend celebration over the Victoria Day weekend in May.
"When you were six, or was it eight, your mother thought, as mother's sometimes do. That you were strong enough and sure enough to one day be a dancer." This child was born to dance. She takes the stage and lights up. The Folklore Festival is the first time they get to dance their full dance on stage and in costume. Saturday mornings since the middle of September are devoted to her dancing, it quickly becomes routine. "The real voyage of discovery consists not in seeking new landscapes but in having new eyes." - Marcel Proust As a photographer I strive to freeze time, to capture moments that would otherwise be forgotten, to find beauty in the everyday of life, joy in the chaos. It has been a loooooong winter here in Thunder Bay this year. One that has been super super cold and snowy and lasting for.ev.er.! So when Spring decides to tease us, we enjoy every.single.mintue. of it, for we are never sure when the next set of snow clouds will blow in. "The journey in between what you once were,
and who you are becoming, is where the dance of life really takes place." - Barbara De Angelis |
